Description
Understand the origin and history of the Second World War and Holocaust while being on the grounds of the labour and concentration camp in the outskirts of Kraków. Learn about the wicked ways that the prisoners were treated, inhuman conditions they were kept in and atrocious methods there were killed with.

Are you wondering why you should go to the KL Plaszow memorial site?

First concentration camps were built in 1933 on the territory of The Third Reich. At the very beginning they were meant for the political opponents but, with time, Nazis started to incarcerate there also people that they didn't see fit anymore in their new society: Jews, homosexuals, just about anyone who was different in a way that Nazis didn't approve - had to be captured.

Only six years later the Second World War started and Poland was, after a long fight, conquered by both Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. Kraków became a part of the General Government, which meant that Germany would have its administration and police apparatus located there.

Nazis' plans during the war started to evolve. Unfortunately, for all the future victims, they planned and succeeded to create more concentration camps on the areas they had under their control. The idea started to grow in a pace no one could ever imagine.

Everyone has heard about Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and extermination camp. But not a lot of people remember that just nearby Kraków there was a labour and concentration camp called KL Plaszow. A place where Amon Göth, vicious and violent commandant was in charge. Jews from Poland and Hungary were slowly slaughtered there.
During the tour you will see a roll call square, monuments, places where prisoners were executed. It's not for the faint-hearted. It is a place where it all happened. And Nazis wanted to cover it up. But it's not all. Listen to your Guide and ask them questions. Learn more with no crowds. Understand the past and honor it.
