What we want to achieve on this tour is to shift the perception of a city from eyes to ears. We will guide you through the streets to experience different sounds and noises. Together, we are going to create a sound landscape (“soundscape”) of Kraków.
Each city has its own, characteristic sound and Kraków, of course, has its own unique bugle call. It’s actually one of the most important and recognisable symbols of this city for all Poles. It’s played live by a trumpeter every hour from the top of St. Mary’s Church on the Main Market Square. The melody is rooted in Polish tradition so deeply, that the bugle call played at 12.00 o’clock is broadcasted live every day in the Polish national radio station.
The concept of soundscape appeared in the '60s in Toronto. First such trips were guided a decade later in San Francisco.
